Spring 2021 Commence with some SEMA graduates!

Welcome!
Dr. Jeremy Zelkowski, associate professor of secondary mathematics education, received his Ph.D. in Mathematics Education from Ohio University in 2008. I joined The University of Alabama in August 2008. Prior, I taught high school mathematics in Louisiana beginning in 1999. I applied to the ACCLAIM doctoral program in 2004 and began teaching math full time as a senior lecturer of mathematics at the college level from until 2008 while I was pursuing my doctoral degree. I have been the senior faculty member in mathematics education in the College of Education since 2010 and the program coordinator for Secondary Mathematics (SEMA) education programs since 2008. My work is strongly represented by a partnership with faculty in the Mathematics Department at UA, along with Computer Science faculty.
Students usually call me Dr Z. 🙂

Navigating this site
This site was created this website to organize information about the UA programs in secondary mathematics education, manage pages directly related to my work as a researcher, a teacher, and through service outreach. Prospective students can find information specific to their interests, as well as news relative to the work at UA.
Parents of prospective future mathematics teachers may learn about the support of our program and the national prominence of our initial teacher preparation program. Current mathematics teachers can learn about graduate program opportunities. Prospective doctoral students should reach out well in advance, especially if seeking a graduate assistantship.
